CARMEL ALERT - SPECIAL WAR UPDATE
Shalom Everyone - Here
is the latest and hopefully the final update as at 7 pm Monday August
14th. If the ceasefire continues
to hold, I will cease the daily
reports after this one. If there are any strategic developments we will
send out a special report. Otherwise expect to receive the regular Carmel
Alert at the end of the week. Thank you so much for standing with Israel
through the ordeal of the last 30 days. God bless you all
.................
* The Sound of Silence
- Ceasefire is holding
Shalom has
returned to northern Israel.
HALLELUYAH !!! The
fragile ceasefire is in place and holding. In 4 separate incidents IDF soldiers
were provoked by Hizb'Allah soldiers and proceeded to take them out. There
have been no Israeli air raids since the ceasefire began at 8 am local
time. No rockets have been fired towards Israel today. Israelis are
breathing a sigh of relief in the hope that life will now return to
normal.
A record
250 rockets were fired into Israel Sunday,
including 8 heavy Khaibar-1 missiles. Do you remember what I explained to you
just a few days ago about the Khaibar? Those 8 Khaibars sent into Israel
yesterday were an erstwhile 'parting' gesture before this cease-fire - a message
from Nasrallah to say, "Don't forget Khaibar - we'll be back to finish the job
of destroying every Jew." That's exactly what Khabair is about. If you missed
the first explanation of the significance of this word, put in 'Khabair' on
Google and you'll understand.
On the political scene, many voices are
beginning to question the competance of PM Olmert and his defense minister Amir
Peretz. Both came to power only a few months ago with alomost no military
experience. High ranking army officers say they had strategised a plan
that most likely would have fully removed the Hizb'Allah threat, but Plmert
& Peretz refused to allow them to go ahead. Unacceptable numbers of
Israeli soldiers lost their lives because of Olmerts mind changing and
hesitations. And Israel failed to gain the victory for the first time in her 60
year war filled history. As the hours pass, more & more calls
are being heard for Olmert & Peretz to resign. We agree
!!!
* Why Nasrallah Reneged on
Cease-fire Lekarev News Report After Hizbollah
leader Hassan Nasrallah backtracked from his earlier consent to abide by the UN
brokered cease-fire, Israeli FM Tzipi Livni put in urgent calls to the US
secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice and the French foreign minister in an effort
to salvage the ceasefire from Nasrallah’s 12th-hour retraction. In turn,
Secretary Rice called Lebanese PM to warn him that if the UN Lebanon resolution
is not implemented, “We will not be responsible for the consequences”.
Intelligence sources tell us that
Tehran has ordered Nasrallah to
keep Israel engaged in combat for another 3 to 4 weeks. That is when he suddenly
backed away from his Saturday pledges to France and the Siniora government of
Lebanon to accept a ceasefire and a UNIFIL force in south Lebanon. Nasrallah
said he would wait a month to see how Israel’s retreat from the disputed Shabaa
Farms was progressing. At that news, the shocked Lebanese ministers called off
their meeting to discuss the deployment of their forces in the south and the
disarming of Hizballah.
* Hizbollah
Distributes "Victory" Leaflets Lekarev News Report
Hizbullah volunteers distributed leaflets this morning congratulating
Lebanon on its "big victory" and thanking citizens for their patience during the
34-day war with Israel. Supporters of the terror group were seen passing out
leaflets to cars heading south on the Zahrani highway, which connects the
hard-hit southern cities of Nabatiyeh, Tyre and Sidon. "Congratulations to you
on the big victory, with the support of God, the mujahedeen (holy warriors) and
your patience," it read.
Thousands of cars began flooding
Lebanon's bombed out highways heading south within an hour of a UN cease-fire
taking hold, and Lebanese army troops scrambled to repair roads in time for the
deluge of refugees returning home.

Soldier’s release could not be tied to agreement
Israel Today News
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in a
meeting with the families of kidnapped soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser
that there was no chance of tying the entire ceasefire agreement to the release
of their sons. “Despite the great difficulty in saying this, I have told
the families of the kidnapped soldiers. I looked them in the eye and told them
the truth. I am taking full responsibility. I decided to take responsibility on
a decision which gives us significant international support in this matter which
is not only Israel’s problem, but now the entire international leadership is
committed to solving the issue of the kidnapped soldiers,” Olmert
said.
The meeting with the PM Ollmert was very difficult. There were many
tears around the table and the families did not hide their disappointment. “We
were expecting for you stick to the principle of releasing the soldiers. We were
promised that you will not compromise,” said Benny Regev, brother of Eldad
Regev. IDF’s Chief of Staff, Lt. General Dan Halutz said during the
Cabinet meeting that the release of the soldiers should be put high on the
agenda and how to turn this into an operative issue. Halutz reminded the
ministers that Israel holds 13 Hizballah prisoners and many more bodies.
* You win some, you lose
some Israel Today News
Report
Reporters find real reason for a bombed hospital in
Lebanon, and Israel blunders proof of killed Hizballah terrorists. In many
caaes the battle for public opinion is just as important, if not more so, than
the real battles waged on the ground. Here are two examples of the fragility of
the opinion war. While on a tour of a bombed hospital in the city of Tyre
in southern Lebanon, a group of foreign journalists, who were supposed to have
been shocked by an unprovoked bombing of a civilian hospital, quickly found out
the real reason for the hit. While on the tour, Dr. Fuad Fath, a physician
working at the hospital, showed the damage caused to the hospital by an Israeli
air strike and asked the reporters, “What reason in the world does Israel have
to bomb a hospital?”
The answer was quickly found: A reporter from the
Canada National Post who was on the tour said that the reporters were looking
around for the answer and found it after a short time. In a field adjacent to
the hospital, the reporters found the remains of a rocket launcher hit by
Israel.
The reporters returned to the hospital and confronted Dr. Fath with
what they found. The doctor. immediately confessed that Hizballah indeed fired
rockets from nearby the hospital. “What choice do we have? We need to fight from
somewhere, no?” the doctor said angrily and added, “This is the beloved land of
the Hizballah.”
While Israel held real proof of the number of Hizballah
terrorists killed in clashes with the Israel Defense Forces, nothing was done to
take advantage of this precious info. What a shame…
* Important update for prayer &
intercession for our soliders Several divisions of soldiers
have returned to Israel. However thousands of
IDF soldiers continue to be located inside Lebanese territory
attempting to hold the ceasefire in place. They are still targets for
Hizb'Allah snipers. The situation in Gaza is still very volatile.
Please pray for protection, rest and refreshment as the soldiers sit by their
posts. Lets also pray that the Messianic believers will have lots of
opportunities to share the Gospel with their fellow soldiers..
Here
are the names of the believing soldiers currently in the army
................ Please Protect & refresh them all Lord !

* Financial Assistance is
urgently needed in the north of Israel
As well as a tragic
loss of life and serious injuries, this war is exacting an enormous financial
cost. There are massive practical needs here in Haifa and the northern
towns. Our congregation, Tents of Mercy is a excellent channel for you to
add practical assistance to your prayer and solidarity support.
Channelling your donations through a Messianic ministry like TOM not only
meets the physical needs of the people but helps the Messianic believers to
establish relationships with unbelieving Israel and gives us the opportunity to
share the love of God with those who are hurting, mourning lost loved ones, and
in bewilderment at what is taking place in their midst. Please send your
humanitarian aid donation directly to the Tents of Mercy bank account -
details below. If that is a problem, please contact us.
